Licensing
Windows Server 2022 Standard is included in the plan price under our SPLA agreement. You do not need to bring a key, and there is no separate licence line on the invoice. Remote Desktop Services client access licences are extra — tell us how many seats you need and we will quote it.
Why Windows plans cost more
The difference against an equivalent Linux plan is the licence, not the hardware. The CPU, memory and NVMe are the same as our Linux fleet.
Deployment time
Windows images take five to ten minutes rather than the sixty seconds Linux takes. The installer does real work, and rushing it produces machines that fail their first update.
Recommended sizing
- Two vCPU and 4 GB is a floor, not a target — the OS alone wants most of that.
- Four vCPU and 8 GB suits a small application server or a single SQL Express workload.
- Eight vCPU and 16 GB is the starting point for anything with several concurrent users.
